The purpose of these Guidelines prepared for UNDP by Unisféra is to support countries (especially Least-Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in developing intergrated financing strategies for Sustainable Land Management (SLM).

The document was developed in the context of the Global Environemnt Facility’s LDC and SIDS Targeted Portfolio Approach for Capacity Development and Mainstreaming of Sustainable Land Management Project. It is designed to provide tools, methods and information on the process of designing Integrated Financing Strategies for sustainable land management.

The document is intended as a companion to the work completed by the Global Mechanism of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification under its Designing Integrated Financing Strategies programme, and is adapted to respond to the specific challenges of LDCs and SIDS in the context of sustainable land management.
