This report looks at the interconnections between agricultural trade liberalisation, land degradation and poverty in the rural drylands. It discusses the implications of the Doha Round for the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals and the implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). Policy implications to improve coherence among agricultural trade, poverty alleviation, and land management strategies in the context of the UNCCD framework are also addressed.
